EHS Regional Trainer

We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Regional EHS Trainer with a strong background in Confined Space Entry Training and general Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) responsibilities. In this role, you will be responsible for traveling extensively in your region and delivering high-quality training programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and driving safety culture across multiple locations. This is a key position within the EHS team, aimed at improving workforce safety, reducing risk, and enhancing EHS performance.

Only candidates in the Chicago/Joliet or Houston area will be considered. 75% travel required within the assigned region.

Compensation: $90,000 - $110,000 per year plus car allowance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Training Delivery:
    • Primary Instructor in charge of delivering DCI’s Confined Space Entry training program for your assigned region.
    • Provide EHS Training across your region. (e.g., Hazard Communication, RCRA, Lockout/Tagout, Fall Protection, Emergency Response, PPE, etc.)
    • Adapt and customize training materials to meet the specific needs of each site within the region.
    • Experience utilizing a variety of training methods (in-person, online, hands-on) to maximize effectiveness and engagement.
  • Program Development & Compliance:
    • Ensure training content remains up-to-date with the latest regulations (OSHA, RCRA, NFPA, etc.) and industry best practices.
    • Collaborate with the EHS team to identify gaps in training and implement continuous improvement strategies.
    • Conduct training needs assessments and develop tailored solutions for different roles, departments, or locations.
  • Auditing & Evaluation:
    • Assist with regular audits to ensure compliance with EHS protocols, especially around confined space entry procedures.
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of training through assessments, feedback, and follow-up evaluations to ensure learning objectives are met.
    • Maintain detailed records of training sessions, participant attendance, and certifications.
  • Safety Leadership & Culture:
    • Act as a safety advocate and role model, promoting a strong safety culture across the region.
    • Support the development of proactive safety initiatives and contribute to incident investigations, as needed.
    • Serve as a subject matter expert for confined space entry and general EHS topics, providing guidance and technical support to teams.
  • Travel & Regional Support:
    • Travel to different sites within the assigned region to deliver training, provide support, and conduct evaluations.
    • Assist in the roll-out of corporate EHS initiatives and programs at the regional level.
    • Maintain strong communication and collaboration with site leaders and the corporate EHS team.

Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) roles with a focus on delivering training programs.
    • At least 3 years of experience specifically in Confined Space Entry training.
    • Proven experience in training delivery in a variety of EHS subjects, including but not limited to Fall Protection, Hazard Recognition, Risk Management, and Regulatory Compliance.
  • Certifications:
    • Confined Space Entry Trainer certification (preferred).
    • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar EHS certifications are highly desirable.
  • Skills & Knowledge:
    • Deep understanding of OSHA standards, particularly 29 CFR 1910.146 (Confined Space) and other relevant EHS regulations.
    • Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate a diverse workforce.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with learning management systems (LMS) or other training platforms.?
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and engage employees at all levels.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Strong analytical skills to evaluate training effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.

  • Travel:
    • Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time within the assigned region.
